New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul locked horns over domestic surveillance during the first Republican primary debate on Thursday night, giving viewers the first real slap fight of the evening.
The spat quickly devolved into smirks and eye rolls from Paul during an impassioned defense of surveillance by Christie.
During a portion of the debate that focused on how the candidates planned to deal with domestic terrorism, Fox moderator Megyn Kelly asked Christie about a past remark on Paul's opposition of NSA's collection of phone records, in which he said Paul's opposition "made the United States weaker and more vulnerable" and "he should be called before Congress to answer for it if we should be hit by another terror is attack."
